Product Information
We do our best to ensure product descriptions, specifications, care information and other details are accurate and up to date. Information is provided as a general guide and may vary between batches, suppliers, individual plants or product revisions.

Stock availability
Website stock levels update live from our inventory system, but occasional discrepancies can occur due to in-store sales, damage or stock adjustments. This is more likely when only 1 or 2 units are showing as available.

Product images
Images are provided as a visual guide and may not show the exact individual item for sale. Plants can naturally vary in size, fullness, colour, shape and stage of growth, and images may show a mature specimen to demonstrate how a younger plant may develop.

Images are either owned by Kambarang Garden Centre, used under an appropriate licence or with permission, or created with AI assistance. AI imagery is used to improve the background of existing photos, and to provide representative images where a suitable real-world photo is difficult or impractical to obtain, particularly for mature plants. Special care is taken to preserve the genuine appearance, colour, form, foliage, flowers and growth habit as accurately as current AI image technology allows.

Plant sizing
Plant sizes refer to the pot size, not the exact size of the plant. For example:

  • 100 mm = 10 cm diameter pot
  • 140 mm = 14 cm diameter pot
  • 5 L = 5 litre pot

Smaller pot sizes generally indicate younger plants, although actual plant size can vary significantly between species, varieties and growth habits.

Description

The "Naga Viper" cultivar of the Chilli (Capsicum sp.) is a standout in the world of spicy peppers, boasting a scorching heat level that ranks up there with the fieriest of chillies. Its slender fruits transition from green to a vibrant red when ripe, with subtle white flowers making their appearance in Birak (early summer). For those brave enough to cultivate this fiery marvel, it promises an intense, flavourful punch, delivering a whopping heat level that exceeds 1,300,000 SHU – caution is advised when handling and consuming due to its extreme spiciness.

Whether you're planting in garden beds, pots, or vege/herb gardens, the "Naga Viper" thrives best in sunny locations with well-draining soil. Those planting directly into the ground, especially in areas with sandy soils, will benefit from amending the earth with a quality soil conditioner. During Djilba (early spring), a dose of balanced fertiliser will ensure healthy growth and fruiting. The fiery chillies are typically ready for harvesting 80-90 days post-planting. Given its high SHU, always handle with care and consider wearing gloves, especially if dealing with the seeds and inner membranes.

Toxicity Chilli plants contain Capsaicin, the higher the Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) score, the more capsaicin the plant contains. Capsaicin is toxic to most animals if ingested. Humans can tolerate capsaicin, however it can be toxic at high enough levels, so caution must be taken when ingesting chillis. Capsaicin is also harmful to sensitive areas of the skin in humans and animals. Special care should be taken to avoid the eyes, nasal passage and groin in particular.
