Ficus elastica 'Burgundy' is a striking ornamental tree renowned for its large, glossy leaves with deep burgundy hues and prominent red midribs. For optimal growth, plant in a well-draining soil mix comprising peat moss, perlite, and pine bark fines. Water moderately, allowing the top few inches of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering. During the growing season (spring and summer), feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength every two weeks. Prune as needed to maintain the desired shape and size. This low-maintenance plant is ideal for Perth gardens, offering year-round visual appeal.
