Description

The 'Delicate Jewels' Epiphyllum is a captivating hybrid known for its pastel pink blooms that emerge during early to late spring (Djilba to Kambarang). As an evergreen succulent, it features flat, leaf-like stems that can reach up to 3 metres in length, though it is easily pruned to maintain a manageable size. This variety thrives in bright, indirect sunlight and is best suited for hanging baskets or pots, making it an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor settings in Perth's climate.

To ensure optimal growth, plant 'Delicate Jewels' in a loose, coarse, well-draining soil mix. Refresh the soil every 2 to 3 years, as Epiphyllums are fast growers and can deplete soil nutrients quickly. During Perth's warmer months, water regularly to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, allowing excess water to drain away and avoiding letting the plant sit in water. In cooler periods, reduce watering to prevent root rot. Regular feeding with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season will promote healthy growth and abundant flowering. Pruning after the flowering period helps maintain the desired size and encourages new growth.
