Description
Yuzu, scientifically known as Citrus x junos (reticulata x cavaleriei), is a unique citrus tree cherished for its aromatic fruit, which carries a distinct flavour blending mandarins and papeda. Its fragrant blooms not only accentuate gardens but also hint towards the culinary delights the mature fruit brings. Often incorporated into various dishes, yuzu zest and juice are mainstays in Japanese cuisine and can elevate any garden-to-table experience.
This citrus gem flourishes best under full sun, either planted directly in the ground or in pots. In sandy soils, it's recommended to enrich with soil conditioner to offer the tree optimal nutrients. The Yuzu demands consistent watering, particularly during Kambarang to Djeran (spring to autumn), ensuring its fruits develop richly. Beneficial nourishment in the form of a balanced citrus fertiliser during Djilba (late winter to early spring) supports robust growth and bountiful yields.
