Description

Bougainvillea 'Kini', commonly known as Babybino Bougainvillea or Super-Dwarf Bougainvillea, is a compact, evergreen shrub ideal for adding vibrant colour to gardens, patios, or balconies. This cultivar reaches approximately 60 cm in both height and width, making it suitable for small spaces and container planting. 'Kini' is renowned for its delicate pale purple bracts that surround small, inconspicuous cream-coloured flowers. The plant exhibits a profuse blooming cycle, starting in Djilba (early spring) and continuing through Bunuru (late summer), adding a lively charm to any space.

For optimal growth in Perth's climate, 'Kini' thrives in full sun positions and prefers well-draining loamy soil enriched with organic matter. Once established in the ground, it is very drought-hardy; however, when grown in pots, it requires regular watering during the warmer months to prevent the soil from drying out. Over-watering can reduce flowering, so it's essential to allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Light pruning after flowering encourages a bushier appearance and promotes further blooming. Due to its compact growth habit, 'Kini' is ideal for use as a groundcover, in hanging baskets, or as a low hedge.
