Anigozanthos 'Bush Coral', commonly known as Kangaroo Paw, is a vibrant Western Australian native prized for its striking, tubular flowers that bloom in shades of pinkish-orange-red. Perfect for Perth's climate, this evergreen perennial adds a bold pop of colour from Djilba (Early Spring) through Bunuru (Late Summer), with potential for additional flowering during Djeran (Autumn). Its unique flower shape attracts native birds, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.
Plant 'Bush Coral' in a sunny spot with sandy or loamy soil enriched with aged compost or soil conditioner, as it’s sensitive to fresh manures. In hot weather, regular watering helps to enhance flowering, but once established, it becomes drought-tolerant, requiring only occasional hand-watering in cooler months if dry conditions persist. This robust Kangaroo Paw is also well-suited to pots or containers when planted in a native potting mix.
