The "Purple Spray" cultivar of Hardenbergia violacea, commonly known as Native Wisteria, is a smaller variety that packs a colourful punch with its striking purple blooms. Perfect for livening up garden spaces, this climber flourishes with vivid flowers from Makuru to Kambarang (winter to late spring). Despite its compact size, it still enjoys climbing and cascading, making it a versatile choice for trellises, archways, or even large pots.
Though "Purple Spray" can be potted, it truly shines when planted in the ground. If you opt for a pot, a well-draining or premium potting mix is recommended. This cultivar thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. For those with sandy or poor soil, adding a soil conditioner will provide optimum growing conditions. Fertilise in Djeran (autumn) with a low-phosphorus fertiliser to keep those blooms at their best.
