Description
Grevillea 'Amethyst', a cultivar of Grevillea sericea x confertifolia, showcases enchanting mauve-pink blooms from Djilba to Birak (late winter through spring). As a native Australian selection, this small to medium-sized shrub draws the attention of both garden enthusiasts and native wildlife. Its striking floral display provides a distinctive touch, making it an attractive choice for gardens yearning for both aesthetics and a sense of place.
'Amethyst' thrives best when planted in the ground, especially when supplemented with a soil conditioner to improve poor, sandy soils. To support its growth, it appreciates full sunlight and well-drained soil. While initially needing more regular watering, it becomes increasingly drought-resistant as it matures. During Djilba (late winter), it benefits from a feed of low-phosphorus native fertiliser to ensure vibrant blooms and robust growth. Regular pruning post-flowering helps maintain its bushy appearance and encourages a denser display in the following season.
