Description
Geranium 'Tiny Monster' is a vigorous, mat-forming perennial that serves as excellent ground cover in Perth's gardens. This cultivar features deeply divided, dark green leaves that turn a reddish hue in autumn, adding seasonal interest. From late spring through to early autumn (Kambarang to Birak), it produces abundant large, magenta-pink flowers with darker veins, attracting pollinators and bringing vibrant colour to garden beds and borders. Its low-growing habit makes it ideal for underplanting roses and shrubs, as well as for use in rockeries and cottage-style gardens.
To thrive in Perth's climate, plant 'Tiny Monster' in full sun to partial shade, ensuring it receives some protection from the harsh midday sun during summer months. It prefers well-drained soil and is adaptable to various soil types, including sandy and loamy soils common in the region. Once established, this geranium is relatively drought-tolerant but will benefit from regular watering during extended dry periods. Prune back old flower stems and foliage after flowering to encourage fresh growth and maintain a tidy appearance. Applying a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring can promote vigorous growth and an extended flowering period.
