Description
Dianella 'Breeze®' is a compact, evergreen perennial native to Western Australia. This cultivar is celebrated for its tidy, non-weeping habit, featuring arching, glossy green leaves that create a graceful, cascading effect. In late spring to early summer (Birak), it produces star-shaped blue flowers, which are followed by ornamental blue berries, adding year-round interest to gardens. 'Breeze' is well-suited for mass plantings, borders, or as a specimen in small areas, providing year-round colour and form. It prefers a sunny position in well-drained soil and is tolerant of dry periods and light frost.
In Perth's climate, Dianella 'Breeze®' thrives in full sun to part shade and is adaptable to various soil types, including heavy clay or free-draining media. It is drought-tolerant and can withstand exposed and windy conditions, making it ideal for coastal gardens. Regular maintenance includes removing dead foliage to maintain a neat appearance and occasional fertilisation with a slow-release fertiliser.
