"Sentinel", a cultivar of Coast Banksia (Banksia integrifolia), presents captivating light yellow blossoms during Djilba (late winter/spring), paired with its characteristic glossy green leaves. Ideal for narrow spaces, this slender upright tree serves as a natural privacy screen or windbreak. With its textured bark and cylindrical flower spikes, it not only beautifies landscapes but also attracts native wildlife.
For optimal growth of "Sentinel", a sunny to partly shaded spot is ideal when planting in the ground. To combat sandy or poor soils, integrate organic compost for nourishment. Regular watering during its early growth stages is essential, tapering to a moderate amount in Djeran (autumn) and Makuru (winter). To keep it thriving, an application of slow-release native fertiliser during Bunuru (late summer/early autumn) is beneficial. Pruning can be performed post-flowering to shape and encourage fresh growth.
