Description
Agonis flexuosa 'After Dark', commonly known as the Western Australian Peppermint Tree or WA Peppermint Willow, is a striking native tree characterised by its deep burgundy foliage, which intensifies in full sun. Originating from Western Australia, this evergreen tree reaches a height of 4 to 6 metres with a spread of 3 to 4 metres, making it ideal for adding height, colour, and structure to Perth landscapes. 'After Dark' is well-suited to full sun and adapts well to various well-draining soils, offering a resilient and low-maintenance choice for local gardens.
In Late Spring (Kambarang), the Western Australian Peppermint Tree produces small, white flowers that add a subtle contrast to its dark foliage. Known for its aromatic leaves, which release a pleasant scent when crushed, this perennial provides year-round interest and texture to garden spaces. It is especially favoured for its drought tolerance once established, making it suitable for Perth’s climate.
