Description
Euphorbia milii 'Lipstick' is a striking succulent shrub known for its vibrant pink bracts that bloom profusely from late winter through summer (Makuru to Birak). This cultivar features lush green leaves and softer thorns compared to typical crown of thorns varieties, making it a standout choice for adding colour to outdoor spaces. Its compact form, reaching up to 1 metre in both height and width, makes it ideal for garden beds, borders, or as a feature in pots on patios and balconies.
Thriving in Perth's Mediterranean climate, 'Lipstick' prefers full sun and well-drained soils. It has a low water requirement once established, but benefits from occasional watering during extended dry periods. To promote healthy growth and abundant flowering, apply a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season. Light pruning in summer (Bunuru) can help maintain its shape and encourage further blooming. Ensure the plant is placed in a well-lit position and avoid overwatering, especially in winter (Makuru), to prevent root rot.
