PLANT
• Prepare soil to be weed-free, well-draining and rich in organic matter for the best flowers.
• Plant with the dried stem of the old plant facing upwards. Ensure the tubers are well covered in soil.
• Water soil well at time of planting.
GROW
• Pinch out plant when it develops its third set of leaves. This encourages branching and a stable, strong plant.
• Provide support as the plant grows. Plant will become bushy, so several stakes joined with wire can help support the large heavy blooms. Florist netting is ideal for mass plantings.
• Feed when buds appear for the best floral display.
• Deadhead regularly for longer flowering season.
CARE
• For longest vase life, harvest blooms when the buds are half unfurled.
• At the end of the season, allow foliage to yellow so that energy is
re-absorbed into the bulb, then cut back to just above ground level.
• Tubers can be left in the ground and will multiply.
• Crowded clumps can be lifted when dormant and split.
