Description
The False Marijuana Plant, or Anthurium polyschistum, offers a unique aesthetic with its striking foliage that bears a resemblance to its namesake, yet it’s all show and no high. Thriving in the seclusion of full shade or the controlled environment of an indoor space, this plant’s sprawling habit is best supported by a climbing structure. Its inconspicuous white/green flowers may not be the star, but its lush, expansive leaves ensure it still takes centre stage in any pot plant collection.
Caring for this anthurium involves keeping it in hot, humid conditions akin to its tropical origins, making it a splendid choice for a steamy bathroom or sunroom. While it requires minimal watering in the cooler seasons of Makuru (winter) and Djilba (early spring), the warmer months call for more frequent hydration to mimic its natural habitat. There's no strict schedule for fertilising; however, a slow-release fertiliser applied in Kambarang (late spring) can enhance its vigorous leaf growth, and regular pruning isn't necessary—just trim as needed to shape or manage its size.
